The GOP lawmakers requested Huang appear in a joint, closed-door briefing on Nov.
18 to address concerns regarding "NVIDIA's security protocols against foreign adversary espionage and your interactions with…Megaspeed executive Alice Huang." The New York Times published a report in October alleging American spy agencies last year discovered Alice Huang, an executive at the Singapore-based data center Megaspeed, funneled information to Beijing while developing a "close relationship" with Trump-ally Jensen Huang.
Nvidia previously told The Hill that Megaspeed was a regional customer and the claims were debunked last year. President Trump was briefed on the matter but was reportedly hesitant to interfere with Nvidia's chip sales and the U.S.'s trading relationship with China, per The Times.
"Recent reports raise major national security concerns regarding the PRC's access to sensitive U.S. technology and information," the lawmakers wrote in a statement, adding that it is "vital that Congress determines the extent to which U.S. national security has been placed at risk." The Nvidia chief has until Nov. 11 to provide alternative availability if he cannot attend the mid-Nov. hearing.
