West Virginia sues TikTok, ByteDance, alleging app harms kids with addictive content

The social media behemoth TikTok and its parent firm, ByteDance, are facing a lawsuit from West Virginia, which contends the application is actively detrimental to young users.
This legal action, brought forth on Thursday, claims that the platform intentionally employs features designed to keep children engrossed in its content, simultaneously exposing them to predators and sexually suggestive material. The filing further asserts that TikTok breached state statutes concerning consumer protection by leveraging these addictive functionalities to promote overly long periods spent looking at screens among minors.
